HOLY COW!

It's snowing..and hard. I'm sitting at the computer doing some school work when I see a flash of light followed by THUNDER!! What is that about?!

24 weeks!!

Well, Ian was grumpy last night so I had Ady take my 24 week belly picture. She loves doing it too:) In fact, she's done most of them!! Who would have thought??

Last night after work I helped Ian sort out what he is going to wear for all of his PhD interviews and dinners he has to attend the rest of the week. What a pain. Leave it to a guy to wait for the last minute to think about what he is wearing!!
We managed to go to bed early but didn't get to sleep. Ian was talking...
Then sleep came. Wonderful, hard, full of great dreams sleep. Then the phone rang. AT 4 AM!! It was Ian's friend Phil. He did not call once, or twice, but he called THREE TIMES!! Ian answered it the second time and told Phil that we were sleeping b/c it was 4 a.m. Phil was surprised that it was that early in the morning. Instead of saying "oh ok man, sorry, talk to you later"....he puts his fiance on the phone!! grrr!!! Ian finally got them off of the phone only to have him call back a few minutes later...grr...Ian turned his phone off at that point. And I never got back to sleep....oh well...that's what the weekend is for, right??

Quick update..

Had my dr appt today. BP was 100/60 so all is still good there. I gained 4.5 lbs this month..right on track. She said that my tummy/uterus is nice and round:) And the cramping I've been dealing with is probably from trying to do to too much or b/c my placenta is in the front instead of the the back. So nothing to worry about there.
Next appt in on March 30 and I have to do the one hour glucose test. Not looking forward to that. Not b/c I'm worried about failing it but b/c they are going to draw blood! I HATE HAVING BLOOD DRAWN!!!
ok, thats all..I'm starving and need to get to the store...

Oh and his heartbeat was 156 beats per minute. :)

I'm being ditched..

Ian is staying in a flooty-snooty hotel for three nights this week so he can go to all of the PhD interview events and of course, the interviews. In honor of this event, I've decided that I am going to make my all time favorite (Ian's most hated) meal. Beef cube steaks with lots and lots of cream of mushroom soup. Heck, I might even throw in a jar of mushrooms just to satisfy my taste for mushrooms!! hmm.yummy...I can't wait to eat it!! And I'll have that along with mashed potatoes!! Maybe, I'll even make cookies this weekend. My mouth is already watering...

A quick update

This is going to be one hectic week!

To lessen the burden and to not freak Ian out so much, we decided to start buying the necessary baby items a couple at a time, every couple of weeks. We started yesterday with the bathtub and some pacifiers. Tonight I am going to pick Ian up from work and we are going to use a discount we have at JCP's to get a couple more things out of the way. Then I get to go to work.
On Tues, Ian is going out with friends for 'Fat Tues". Wed night, I'm back to work. Thurs, Fri, Sat, Ian is interviewing and socializing for his entrance into the Mayo PhD. program. Phew! This is going to be a week!! Hopefully, the grad school at Mayo will only keep Ian waiting a couple of weeks before letting us know if he is in or not.

In class this morning, my teacher finally got curious enough to ask (well, sort of) if I"m pregnant. She asked me if I'm feeling alright and then told me that she had a question but didn't know if she should ask. I told her that I think I know what she is wondering and the answer is yes!! :) Turns out one of my classmates has asked her if she knew for sure if I was pregnant or not b/c he as curious too but didn't was to offend me if I wasn't pregnant! So I told the rest of my class that was hanging around afterwards that I am in fact pregnant..with a boy...due June 19! :)

I think that's all. I'm looking forward to my appointment on Wednesday. I'm starting to worry b/c I'm pretty sure this guy is hanging out with his feet down instead of up. I know there is still plenty of time for him to turn around and I hope he does b/c I really really don't want a c-section!

Ady and the Easter Egg

Ady has been watching the Charlie Brown Easter special on Netflix a lot lately and has started asking if she can dye eggs. Ian and I bought her a kit the other night at the store and today Ady and I decided to conquer the eggs.

Like a kid on Christmas Eve!

My latest pregnancy craving is for pulled pork BBQ and cole slaw. That is thanks to an episode of a show called 'Cook's Country' that I saw. The version they used requires a grill and it's just a little too cold for me to be out grilling just yet. So I found a crockpot version.
It's cooking away in the kitchen and I can't wait to eat it tonight for dinner. I've also sampled my homemade cole slaw and it's tasting really good!! YUM!!

Let's compare, shall we?

I went back and looked at some of the belly shots I have from when I was pregnant with Ady. There is a crazy difference! I was much larger with Ady at this point than I am right now.

23 weeks..well almost!

I slacked off and didn't do a 22 week picture..so here are 2 for 23 weeks!
That's really about all thats been going on. I spent a good part of last week fighting a cold and that was fun!
We are looking forward to our trip home next month and I'm hoping to order the baby bedding soon!

How to make a pregnant woman happy...

take her to Micheal's Steakhouse for dinner!
Ady went to a party at her dance studio tonight so that left Ian and I with three whole hours to fill! Naturally, we went out for a Valentine's dinner. We ended up going to Micheal's. I got the V-day weekend special which was..
Shrimp cocktail
Cesar salad
filet mignon with smashed potatoes
raspberry bread pudding with bourbon sauce.

I was in heaven! Holy cow it was good!! And our waitress was incredible. We had to wait a little while for the salads and my shrimp. I didn't mind the waiting though. Next thing we know, she has brought out an extra bowl of soup since Ian was a little unsure about which one to pick. The Greek Lemon Chicken and Clam Chowder were both excellent! When our steaks came, our waitress apologized to Ian b/c he had ordered his steak with garlic butter and for some reason the guys in the kitchen read it as 'butterflied' so he had a butterflied steak. No biggie..still tasted the same. My steak was so good and so tender, I could have cut it with a butter knife! I offered a bite of my potatoes to Ian and our waitress saw this..next thing we know she is bringing him his own serving of smashed potatoes!
Then it was time for dessert. It was so so good! Ian ordered a brownie fudge sundae which he also said was very good. When we were all done, we get our bill and our waitress had boxed us up a little cake to take home for the mix up about the steak!! So we have dessert for tomorrow night too!!
All in all it was a good night. Ady is exhausted and I'm hoping she will sleep in a little bit tomorrow b/c I'm pretty wiped out myself!
Oh and Owen loved the meal as well! As soon as the first bite of that steak hit my stomach he started kicking and rolling all around!

Cute Ady story

The other day, I was tickling Ady before I had to get ready for work. I asked her what was I going to do with two kids?! I guess I'll just have to love you and tickle you because I've got so much love to give!. I asked her if she loves her baby brother and she told me she loves him a bushel and a hug around the neck! (awwww) Then she said this...
Mommy, we need to get a puppy because we have so much love to give!

I laughed and told her umm...no, no puppy for us!

Ian got kicked!

Last night I finally crawled into bed feeling like death warmed over because of the sore throat that has now caused me to stay home from class. Owen was wiggling around like crazy so I told Ian that I was being kicked!
He placed his hand on my belly and a second later he felt a little nudge! I was so excited when Ian said 'I felt it'!! He just kept saying 'whoa, thats weird' over and over again. My response was 'yeah, it's weird but it's the coolest thing in the world!' What he felt last night was nothing compared to what will be coming when my belly is all stretched out and we can see a foot sticking out of my side! That is very cool/weird!
So there is my update and exciting news for today. Now I'm going to eat cereal and go back to bed!

Watching the belly

While Ian was in the office working on his presentation, I was hanging out in the living room with my breakfast, hot chocolate, and the Today show. Once breakfast was finished up (second of the day, by the way) Owen (I'm going to try and call him by name..even though I still find it very weird) started dancing in my belly! Guess he shares my love for hot chocolate!
Anyway....
I pulled up my shirt and was watching for my belly to move since I was getting some pretty strong kicks and wouldn't you know it! I saw my belly move around! It was awesome. I remember sitting at home when I was pregnant with Ady and watching her kick me...I'd sit there all night long. You know what? It's just as cool this time around!
I tried to get Ian in the living room to see it but no such luck and tried to get it on camera but again..no luck. I'll keep trying though!

21 weeks

Here is the 21 weeks belly shot! :)

I have really got to stop!

I don't know how it happens. Really, I don't have the slightest idea! I go out shopping, running errands, whatever..by myself...and then something just happens.
I come home with yet another or two or three baby outfits! It's ridiculous. You'd think I've never been through this before. When actually when I was pregnant with Ady I didn't do this. That might have something to do with the fact that I was almost always broke and didnt have a clue about what I was doing or what was in store for me.
Really, I've got to stop letting those cute little outfits crawl into my cart because one day, Ian will see them and with my luck he'll be observant enough to realize that he didnt buy them..so i must have done it on the sly and not told him....

Outside movement! 20w6d

Last night, Ian and I were sitting in the living room watching a movie. As usual I was starving so I got out some carrots and started chowing down. A few minutes later the little babe starts wigglin around quite a bit. I put my hand on my stomach and felt him kick me three different times! I whispered to Ian to get over there and yep, wouldn't you know it, as soon as he put his hand on my stomach the little bugger stopped all movement!
